Kathryn Murphy Alexander Friday, July 03, 2009 11:40 PM I served with VX-8 and was with them when they were redesignated VXN-8. It was a great squadron. I then served with VA-63 until I was discharged. I went home and attended college for a year then on to the AirForce to become a Navigator, completing my time there, I went to work for the airlines as an A&P mech, in 2000 retired from Northwest after 34 years, I have many fond memories of the squadron and people I worked with. At 72 my memory won't recall names, only good times and faces. I have some pictures of him in the 50's but I'll have to search around for those any older than that. I don't know too much about him because he and mom divorced the year I was born. I just received the Bronze Star posthumously for him on April 3, 2009. The Navy has already reissued the rest of his medals to me. If any of you remember my dad please write back. FYI, my local paper the Freelance Star (http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2009/052009/05112009/462968), the DoD WebSite (http://www.defenselink.mil/news/newsarticle.aspx?id=54762) and the PBY Memorial Foundation have published my story (http://www.pbyma.org/news.html).
