E-Mail Virus/Worm Protection Process

VPNAVY is clean as a whistle but that doesn't mean anything when people see my return e-mail.
Unfortunately, a Shipmate with my name in his or her address book has the virus! The virus descriptions (see below) picks up names from the infected address book and changes the "return to" address with addresses in the address book.
Because the infected sender's address is not on the new e-mail, the worm is difficult to track. And blocking the return address is ineffective, because that person didn't send the worm. Worse, the innocent sender may well be someone you know, making you more likely to open the message, click on the attachment, and perpetuate the virus.
So, you are now wondering what is a Virus and/or Worm?
What is a Virus? - A virus is a manmade program or piece of code that causes an unexpected, usually negative, event. Viruses are often disguised games or images with clever marketing titles such as "Me, nude."
What is a Worm? - Computer Worms are viruses that reside in the active memory of a computer and duplicate themselves. They may send copies of themselves to other computers, such as through email or Internet Relay Chat (IRC).
VPNAVY takes many steps to prevent my personal computer from getting infected with a Virus and/or Worm. Here are a few:
Infected E-Mail That Appears To Be From VPNAVY.ORG But Isn't!
W32/Mytob.br@MM
virus which represents itself as being from the recipients domain and suggests that the recipients email account has been suspened by the "net1plus support team". This is a virus email that should be deleted.

W32/Mydoom@MM
is a High-Outbreak Risk mass-mailing worm flooding email servers worldwide. When run, the worm steals email addresses from the infected machine and also automatically generates random email addresses for propagation. This email generation engine is similar to technologies spammers use to generate addresses for spam email campaigns. W32/Mydoom@MM generates emails with a spoofed From: field, so incoming messages may appear to be from people you know. Furthermore, the subject line and message body are both randomly generated by the worm..

KLEZ Worm
The Klez worm has been wriggling across the Web, making it one of the most persistent Viruses ever. Experts warn that it may be a harbinger of new Viruses that use a combination of pernicious approaches to go from PC to PC. What makes Klez particularly insidious is that it draws both a new sender and a new recipient from the infected party's sources. This creates at least three victims: the person who first got the worm, the one who is sent the worm, and the one whose address was taken from the original victim and is used as the new sender. Because the infected sender's address is not on the new e-mail, the worm is difficult to track. And blocking the return address is ineffective, because that person didn't send the worm. Worse, the innocent sender may well be someone you know, making you more likely to open the message, click on the attachment, and perpetuate the Virus.

BUGBEAR Worm
The W32/Bugbear@MM is rated as HIGH RISK FOR HOME AND CORPORATE USERS. This mass-mailing worm attempts to send itself to email addresses found on an infected system. It also spreads through open network shares and has the ability to send print jobs to printers found on an infected network. Once the Virus is run, it will attempt to disable various security products, including many forms of anti-Virus and personal firewall software. It will also attempt to install a backdoor trojan that will allow a hacker access to the infected PC.
