"...I am not completly sure of this but I think the date you have on the disestablishedment of Patrol Squadron SEVEN is wrong. If I remember correctly we were going to transition to P-3s and were doing ground training using photographs of some of the sensor stations inside the aircraft and then in late August we received the word that we were going to decommission and VP-23 was going to transition instead. Everyone was waiting on orders when we got a call from the AW detailer that he needed 3 people for immediate transfer to NS Rota, Spain and NAS Sigonella, Sicily. Another first class and myself volunteered to go to NS Rota, Spain and A second class went for NAS Sigonella, Sicily. I check out of the squadron the 15th of September and arrived in NS Rota, Spain the 30th of September. Later I received an invitation to the decommissioning and it was either the 10th of October or the 10th of November, not the date on their page of August..."
