Reserve Squadron Trains at Pax River

VP-662 of Andrews has concluded its two week training cruise here at Patuxent. The squadron arrived here the 12th of August and left the 25th.

During their two week cruise VP-662 trained with VP-44 and the new P3A. VP-662 has been flying the P2V since 1955.

VP-662 is a reserve squadron which operates out of Andrews. The squadron is comprised of 169 men, 34 of which are officers. The squadron takes a two week cruise once a year visiting various bases and training with different squadrons.

Besides spending two weeks training here at PAX the squadron also did some recruiting for the Reserve Program. Spreading the owrd to those personnel on station that plan on getting out in the near future.

All in all VP-662's cruise was a successful one and was just another example of how the Active Navy works closely with the Reserves..." Contributed by Chuck Sell wa8orr@provide.net [28SEP98]
