JURACK, CWO3 Roger A Retired ...Circa Spring 1968... rog@mcn.net "...VP-11 ('65-'66); VP-21 ('67-'69 (Decommissioning) VP-11 '69-70) DCFAW-5 ASCAC, Plankowner ASCAC/NAS Bermuda ('70-72) ASCAC/Plankowner TSC Brunswick, ME ('73-'76) VP-23 ('76-'80) Commander, Patrol Wing Five (CPW-5) ASWOC '82 - 83) CPWP ASWOC Adak ('84-'85) Started as one of the first classes of AX (7 week "A" school after AFUA) and was co-erced into changing to AW when threatened by the CO of VP-21 (J.J. Goodfellow) while on deployment to Sigonella. Went through the "FIWD" days when VP-23 handed all their P-2's over to us in VP-21 since they were going to decomission, and then had to hand all our P-2's back to VP-23 when VP-21 was unexpectedly decommisioned instead. Have to concur with AWCS Morris' comments about the '79-80 split deployment (Iceland-Dodge); no-one's ever done it better in a shorter transition time to a new airframe and sensor suite (P3CUII). The architect of that success was CDR H.H. Davis, Jr, and if anyone knows his whereabouts, I would be very grateful. My best regards to all the VP'ers, but in particular to VP-11 (P-2's & P-3's) VP-21 (wherever you are) and VP-23..."
