VP-91 Patches
 NOTICE: "...There is a lot of "Drivel" on the website about the VP-91 patches. The original reseach on the Patches was done by YN3 Croxall and myself, ordering the historical files from BUPERS, etc.. and we held a competition for design and motivations during the summer of 1970, for both VP-91 and NARTU DET NAS Moffett Field, California. The winning designs were the Bell for VP-91 and the California Condor Patch for the NARDET. As a result of the escapades during the first deployment to NAF Naha, Okinawa, Japan, over the Bell, and the placing of bells and kangas on the aircraft on th flight line at NAF Naha, Okinawa, Japan, came the directive to change the squadron patch and mascot..." LOGOs:   VP-91 Patch "...The officers created the Liberty Bell but the enlisted wanted to keep the cat which was part of history. The Pink Panther movies were popular at this time and someone came up with the idea of using the panther. Squadron ( officers ) finally agreed, permission was requested from the movie studio ( legal rights for trademark ) and request granted. The patch has the Pink Panther hanging on to and looking down a periscope while holding our tail colors in his left paw. In the background is the Golden Gate bridge thus tying the patch to the Bay Area. While I got out in 1980, I believe this patch lasted until the squadron moved to NAS Whidbey Island..." LOGOs:  VP-91 Patch "...Squadron patch used right after the pink panther was discontinued approx. 1975. the pink panther servived for only the term of one CO. The next CO thought that the pink panther was unprofessional for a Navy squadron so he enacted a change to the Stingers picture since we were flying the Super B update, thus a bee with a Stinger (we were then called the "Stingers").  "...Petty Officer Saleh (Sal) Arekat painted the Black Cats on the tails of VP-91's planes and that he is redoing the wall in VP-65's hanger at NAS Point Mugu, California.
