VP-31 had it as a UP-3A in partial VIP config for use for COMNAVAIRPAC. After VP-31 deactivated it was transfered to VRC-30. Being a C-2 squadron, it didn't work very well and was transfered to VQ-1. I guess the transportation requirements for COMNAVAIRPAC dropped, because the airplane spent most of its time in NAS Misawa, Japan with the VQ-1 Det there, somewhat as a base bird. VQ-1 used is for crew swaps, and it was also used by the NAF P-3 pilots to keep their quals up. The aircraft unfortunatly suffered a major wing spar crack, while in Misawa, and it was deemed not worth fixing, so she was given to the Japanese, for a Museum there at the Misawa Airport.
