ReunionsREUNIONs: "...VS-35, VS-37, and VAW-11 aboard the CVSG-57 Reunion April 14th through 17th 2005, in Pensacola, Fla. SEE: http://dogpatch97415.net/Reunion_Scuttlebutt.htm for latest information..." Contributed by McGINNIS, Terry stooffixer@aol.com [07FEB2004]

From Devious Dave 2/5/04

Terry, Mr. Tom Graham, the Top Kick on this Reunion Committee for 2005 gave me the O K to run solo so here I go. I have a few items to put out to the Members of CVSG-57 concerning the Reunion and I can`t think of any better places other than the APOTD and The CVSG-57 website to get it done. So Mr . McGinnis and Mr. Carson here it is.

Hello Members of CVSG-57, I am Devious Dave "David Shrode VS-35 1963-66" and I am sending this mail out to all of the fine folks of CVSG-57 i.e.: VS-35, VS-37, HS-2, VAW-11 Det November, and Marine H&MS-15 DET N, and Marine VMA-214 DET November as I wish to make sure all of CVSG-57 is included, as far as possible, in this Reunion effort. As has been put out to all contacted so far the Reunion dates are April 14 through 17, 2005 in Pensacola Fl. These dates have been met with an A-OK from all so far and that is approximately 106 folks, COUNTING wives. Yes, that many have indicated that they will come or will try to be there if possible. I wish to thank all of the folks that I have Emailed and called on the phone for their kind replies and patience with me. Not one lemon in the bunch folks. The sound of "Hey thats great and "Thats good news" about the Reunion was heard very often. They were also saying what a great and wonderful time they had in San Diego Last September at Reunion #2. Now for some information.

    1.  I would like for the Ladies and Gentlemen of the group to think of their favorite old tunes from the 50s,60s,and 70s and get them back to me so that I will be able to give the list to the person who is going to furnish music for the banquet and dancing after.

    2.  I would also like to say that a Sea food buffet with a second choice of Baked chicken for those who might not care for seafood has been suggested for the banquet dinner due to the fact that the caterer is at this time is considered to be The Mustin Beach Officers Club and they have been said to have very fine seafood buffets as well as other items. They are the ones most generally used for other reunions that I have spoken to and heard of.

    3.  Now for the one I like. I would like to put a challenge to all who might be so inclined that I Devious Dave, will reimburse the person or couple who can find and get them to come to the reunion, the most members of CVSG-57 that have not been to the first two reunions and are not on the list already for 2005. The reimbursement will be for the Room Rate $55 or $61 whichever you might get for the three nights of the reunion. $165/$183 whichever it turns out to be. This offer comes from me personally and not from reunion funds and will be paid in cash at the reunion banquet. I will need the folks names who are found and say that they will try to come by 1 October as that is the month we need to lock down our Rooms at the NAVY LODGE. They must Show Up at the reunion to be counted. And come on folks, we need to get officers and enlisted from all squadrons. This is a CVSG-57 reunion, we need as many form all squadrons as we can get. As for the $165/$183 you must all put me in your prayers that I don`t depart this world before April 18, 2005.
My Email address is shro27@aol.com or I can be reached at a Toll Free number 1-866-866-0822 if you would like to speak to me about this or anything else concerning the reunion. You may also contact me about most other subjects as I have been told that If I don`t know, I will make something up that will sound good.

Thank You All
Devious Dave
