I just found Dad's Flight Log and other belongings. Dad was a mechanic and waist gunner on a PB4Y-1 with VPB-116 from 23 December 1944 to 27 July 1945. His pilot was LT(jg) H. Moor. Back to NAS North Island, San Diego, California, where we got our PBM's replaced with P5M's and I was made co-pilot, PP1P. Served a complete tour out of NS Sangley Point, Philippines, including patrols to Hainan, Okinawa, Hong Kong, Formosa Straits, where I received the China Service Medal and made PPC. Released from active duty....I joined HU-771 as helicopter pilot in HUP's, piasecki, 2 rotor's at NAS Los Alamitos, California, with a tour to NAS Sand Point, Seattle, Washington. I restored an Alden Auxiliary Powered Sailing Schooner, 100 feet in length over all, 100 tons, and sailed off Cape Hatteras and through the Bahamas to the Virgin Islands. I have a license to fly passengers for pay, under my FAA Commercial pilot's ticket: single engine land, multi engined land and multi engined sea, helicopter and instrument. I am licensed to carry passengers for pay under my USCG captain's license, 100 tons, 100 miles at sea. I have a PADI open sea SCUBA rating.
