Randolph crossed over Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, peacefully in his sleep, at home. Born in Bay St. Louis, Miss., on Oct. 15, 1950, he had been a Peninsula resident since 1963. Paul retired from the US Navy after 26 years of service. He was an independent distributor for Home Interiors and Gifts and attended First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Newport News. Paul was a 1968 graduate of Newport News High School, attended Christopher Newport University, president of VP-68 Association, a member of the American Legion, and Fleet Reserve Association. Survivors include his wife, Janice T. Randolph; two daughters, Kimberly Maltos of San Antonio, Texas, and Ashleigh Randolph of the home; three sons, Kurt Taskey of Yorktown, James P. Randolph of Germany, and Troy Taskey of Yorktown; his mother, Shelley Randolph of Newport News; his father, Jim Randolph of Biloxi, Miss.; two sisters, Nancy Wilson of Yorktown and Sandra Miller of Yorktown; two brothers, James F. Randolph of Newport News and David A. Randolph of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren, Nicholas Maltos, Brandon Randolph, Ryan Randolph, Michele Taskey, and Alyssa Maltos; and a plethora of loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Peninsula Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Parklawn Memorial Park, by readers Shelley Randolph and Rick Fuller. ASHBY, James R. (Jim) jrashby@us.hsanet.net "...I was in VP-68 from 1975 to 1980 as an AX2 and a radio operator. I changed rates to AE, went to VR-51 in NAS Glenview, Illinois, and flew as a flight engineer on the C-118. I then returned to regnav and took an asignment in Iceland where I flew the last C-118 in the Navy. I came back to NAS Patuxent River, Maryland to VQ-4 and flew TACAMO for three years. I then did two years at the Naval Aviation Maintenance Office. When Desert Shield was announced I requested a transfer to the USS Midway and managed to make it to Desert Storm. I returned with the ship to Japan and began to prepare the ship for decommissioning. We brought the ship to San Diego where we completed the task and it seemed a good time to retire so I returned to NAMO at Pax and retired as an AEC. 22911 Gunston Dr., Lexington Park, MD. 301-863-5358..."
