Commissioned Ensign, USN, URL in December 1965, Assigned as ASW Officer in USS Waller DD-466 out of Norfolk, 66-67, followed by a tour as Weapons then Operations Officer USS Richard B. Anderson out of San Diego DD-786, 68-69. This was followed by tour as the Weapons Officer for Cruiser/Destroyer Flotilla 9 out of San Diego, in 70-71, on onto a tour as the Senior Advisor to River Assault Group 22 in the Iron Triangle. Returned to San Diego in 1972 to teach Anti-Submarine Air Control at the Fleet ASW School San Diego until 1974 when I was selected to completed my under graduate degree at San Diego State.
