The reunion is scheduled for the week of November 9-13, 2005 in Virginia Beach, VA. I have reached an agreement with the Sandcastle Oceanfront Resort Hotel; room rates are $42.00/night, 1-4 occupants. Parking fees are waived. All rooms are Oceanfront, I am required to give attendance numbers to the caterer by October 28th in order to get a confirmed number of meals for Friday and Saturday nights. Your attendance must be confirmed and paid by October 28th. There will be a $10.00/person late registration fee after October 28th.

Hotel reservations: 1-800-233-0131 please mention the VP-50 Reunion Group CODE “50 Group" to get the special daily room rate of $42.00/night. After October 28th reservations are subject to availability. The above rate will be extended to those arriving before and/or staying past the above block dates on a subject to availability basis.

Sandcastle Oceanfront Resort Hotel:

This pier side resort is adjacent to the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier and steps away from shops, restaurants, and more. Oceanfront rooms featuring two queen beds, refrigerator, microwave, room safe, unlimited local calls, and a private balcony. This resort includes a fitness center, seasonally heated pool, restaurants, gift shops, banquet and meeting facilities.

A room block is confirmed to accommodate the reunion for arrival as early as, November 9, 2005 for up to 4-night + stay.

Sandcastle Oceanfront Resort Hotel unfortunately has no airport shuttle.

Parking: is limited to guest of the Hotel, the hotel has extended 6 extra parking passes for local attendees not staying in the hotel. These passes will be given out on a first come, first served basis. If you don't have a pass you will have to park on the streets. Let me know if you will be needing a parking pass, so I can provide your name to the hotel.

Cancellation Policy: Individual hotel reservations may be canceled up to 72 hours prior to arrival without penalty. Reunion Fees will not be refunded to individuals who cancel out on the reunion until all reunion debts are paid. Once the reunion account is balanced, fees will be refunded if there is enough money to do so.

The Reunion Cost: Single person will be $100.00 for the weekend and $180.00 for a couple. Checks will be made out to VP-50 Reunion Association and sent to PO Box 26884, Jacksonville, FL 32226-6884. The break down on the price is, $20.00 Association fees, $30.00/head Registration Fee, $20.00/head Friday night and $30.00/head Saturday night. The $20.00 Association Fee covers nametags, mailings, copy and printing expenses. The $30.00 Registration Fee covers hotel expenses, reunion shirts, reunion glasses, door prizes, snacks, soft drinks, beer, wine and liquor for the hospitality room (Thursday-Saturday), which will be the meeting room for registration and conversation. The Hospitality Room will officially open at 12 noon on Thursday, November 10, and it will remain open until Sunday Morning, November 13.

Friday Night: 6:30 pm will be a casual dress get-together for 7 different selections of hors d'oeuvres, drinks and conversations at the Hospitality Room. No events or speakers scheduled as of yet.

Saturday Night: 7:00 pm will be a (coat/tie or dress shirt and slacks for men, suit or dress for women), buffet banquet dinner in the Hospitality Room. Exact menu will be determined, if anyone has a special need meal let me know. I have no confirmed guest speaker at this time. Could use some help or suggestions in finding a guest speaker.

Planned Events: none at this time; there are many museums and local attractions, i.e.; dinner boat cruses on the local rivers, deep-sea fishing, tours of the bases. Hugh Ball is working on getting info on events and will provide a plan for events once I get a feel for the number interested. Driving Directions: Norfolk International Airport (ORF): Approximate driving time is 20 minutes and distance is 10 miles.

From Norfolk International Airport: Take I-64 to I-264 East. Travel east on I-264 to the oceanfront exit. Turn right on Pacific Avenue S. and follow it south to 14th street, turn left go to Sandcastle Oceanfront Resort Hotel, 1307 Atlantic Avenue N. Taxi from Airport: $16-$25 Shuttle: $16-$25

Campers and Motorhomes: Holiday Inn Travel Park approximately 4 miles south on General Booth Blvd. (757) 425-0249. Sea Mist Campground at NS Dam Neck, approximately 7 miles south has 16 full hookup sites, $16.00/nite, (757) 492-7545. NAS Oceana will also have 40 campsites by November 2006
