2003 Reunion Annoucement
WHEN:
WHERE:
WHAT:
6-9 October 2003
Flamingo Hotel, Las Vegas, NV
VP4 Association Reunion 2003

DETAILS:The Flamingo Hotel is in the heart of the fabulous "strip" in Las Vegas.  It has all of the amenities of every major hotel in Las Vegas; e.g., restaurants, pools, spas, and, of course, a few gaming devices.  It is within easy walking distance of numerous other casinos (Caesar's Palace, the Mirage, Treasure Island, Bellagio, Paris, etc.).  It is also within walking distance of the Fashion Mall Shopping Center, where a Nordstroms, Nieman-Marcus, and other well-known shopping venues will be found (there is more than one way to spend your money in Las Vegas).  In addition to the numerous shows in Las Vegas, there are many free attractions, such as the Pirates Battle at Treasure Island, the White Tigers, and the Exploding Volcano at the Mirage, the Water Show at Bellagio.

A Golf Outing is being organized, probably at Nellis AFB, and, for those who feel that "Lady Luck" is smiling on them, we are organizing a Slot Tournament.  THIS IS A BIGGEE!!!  Except for a minimal fee to pay the casino personnel assisting us, all of the entry fees will go to the winners in the tournament.  Depending upon the number of entrants, here is an opportunity to win some big bucks.  The entry fee is $25.  Don't miss this one!!  Additional activities may be added as we continue our planning.

HOTEL RESERVATIONSThe Flamingo may be reached at 1-800-835-5686.  Tell the Reservations Clerk you are with the VP-4 Veterans Association.  The room rate is $89/night plus tax.   We have blocked 200 rooms at the Flamingo, so it is first-come, first-served.  If we need more rooms, we will negotiate a rate for them.

TRAVEL:If you plan to fly into Las Vegas, the Flamingo Hotel is a 10-minute cab ride from McCarren Airport.  If you are driving, take the Flamingo exit off the I-15 freeway east to the strip (Las Vegas Blvd).  At Las Vegas Blvd make a left turn, but you will want to be in the right-hand left turn lane as you will be making an immediate right turn into the Flamingo Hotel.  The entranceway is not well marked (it looks more like an alleyway), but it is immediately adjacent to the Flamingo as you approach it.  It is recommended you turn your car over to valet parking; it only costs the tip.

Slot Tournament

What is a Slot Tournament?  It is quite simple.  You "buy in" for $25.  That is all you will spend or risk.  The Flamingo Hotel and Casino will set aside a room for the slot tournament with approximately 50 slot machines.  Participants will be assigned to a session period, each playing session lasting approximately 20 minutes.  During the playing session, each participant will play the slot machine as fast as he/she can, winning as many points as possible during that session.  Each participant will play a session on Tuesday morning and a session on Wednesday morning.  Winners will be determined by the participants who accumulate the most winnings over the two-day period.  Depending upon the number of entrants, first prize money is anticipated to be around $1,000.
