Memorial Picture "...HEINDEL, ENSIGN Daniel M...I recently found some of my Dad's WWII souvenirs while going through a box of pictures I had been storing after my parents had passed on a number of years ago. Among my Dad's momentos I found two cards--one titled Ancient Order of the Deep and the other titled Imperial Domain of the Golden Dragon. Both had been issued to Ensign Daniel M. Heindel on board the USS Pocomoke (AV-9) on January 18, 1943. Unfortunately I don't know any of the details of that sojourn on the ship, as he later was the radar officer on board the U.S.S. Medusa. He died on May 5, 1990 and I regret that he never had access to the Internet to search for any of his shipmates from either ship. I don't know if any of those remain alive today...Judith Heindel Bowen jobow@earthlink.net..." [12JUN2004]
