EXPLOITS OF YOUNGEST, SENIOR PPC, RALPH P. "FRENCHIE" LEBLANC
I was in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana earlier this month and met the Chief of Police, Buz Leblanc, who told me a great story about his Dad.
I would like to bring to your attention to the exploits of youngest, Senior PPC, Ralph P. “Frenchie” Leblanc.
He was part of RADM Richard E, Byrd’s unprecedented, groundbreaking Antarctic expedition, Operation HIGHJUMP.
"Frenchie was part of the detachment of three PBM Mariner aircraft that participated. (Squadron AV-12??)
Because of his quals, Frenchie was hand picked by RADM Byrd.
Please search for additional details at:
A very well written article, with pictures, by crewman Lou Sapienza, explains all events and is one helluva sea story.
There is also a George One Crew Recovery Link with other members if interested.
