Same with the next two deployments to NAS Sigonella, Sicily and then to NAS Bermuda. Liked the P-3 community so much. I worked on 'em in Naval Air Development Center Warminster. Returned to NAS Jacksonville, Florida and VP-24 ('82-'85). I then took orders to NS Rota, Spain AIMD. Took wife. Came back with Preg wife, and son. Did AVIC7, met daughter, and then took orders to NAS Bermuda (AAhhhh!) AIMD, then base Safety Office. Retired after twenty out of NAS Norfolk, Virginia, as an E-6. So what? I never did any boat time! I lived in Spain! I spent a total of four years in Bermuda! So, I ended my twenty years in Norfolk. I was on shore duty!..." [27JAN2006]

ESCOBAR, Robert "Esky" Jr. fra45@earthlink.net "...I was in VP-50 from about February 1957 (ATAN) through August 1963 (AT1). Went to FAETUPAC for instructor duty where I taught maintenance on the ASA-16 Integrated Display System. Advanced to E-7; AXC. Orders to NATTC, Millington (dreamsheet requested "any spanish speaking country") for AT-B School then on to NAS Patuxent River, Maryland and VP-44. Picked up E-8 and transferred across the ramp to VP-49 where we made the first deployment in the P-3C's to "beautiful downtown NAS Keflavik, Iceland". Generated many "UR's" against the tech manuals. Made two deployments then received orders to NAVPRO, Burbank where I got to process all those "UR's" I'd generated while in the Fleet! Who says there's no justice? Finished on VJ Day. Later VC-11, VP-46, FASRON 3, VW-13, ALUSNA Tehran to OCS. DD703 then NAO training to VP-44 to VP-31 DET NAS Moffett Field, California to CFAWLANT to retire 1970. Awarded CAC Wings, Aircrew Wings, NAO wings and NFO wings. Wore them all once and it looked way to much. Didn't do it again. I wore CAC wings with NFO wings frequently. Was unaware of AROS insignia but wore 'Goldfish Club' insignia on right sleeve on blue jumper. That may not have been proper. Awarded for escaping death by use of liferaft after ditching off Port Everglades, FL in a TBF in the great (?)Bermuda Triangle. Lots of ASW during career including Task Force ALFA while on DD703..."
